Academic cooperation with schools of optometry:
Soflex has recognized the importance of close ties with schools of optometry throughout the years.
For many years we have been assisting the optometric education system in Israel by giving professional lectures and by providing an on-going wide range of contact lenses for learning purposes and practical work (trial sets).
As the optometric profession became institutionalized academically in Israel with first degree courses in both Hadassah College – Jerusalem and Bar-Ilan University, Soflex decided to further deepen its relationship with the institutions in a permanent and organized manner. We provide professional training sessions for the students, lens fitting workshops and educational training visits on site at our factory. Visiting the factory provides the student – the future optometrist – with added “working tools” to assist in Cooperation/Collaboration between Soflex and Colleges (or Schools or Universities) of Optometry
Academic & Industrial Cooperation between Hadassah college and Soflex:
Second degree students of Optometry in Hadassah College in Jerusalem are developing the next generation of contact lenses together with Soflex.
For example, Soflex and the Hadassah Jerusalem School of Optometry have forged a unique relationship in the developing of a multifocal contact lens to find an innovative solution to the problem of aging related presbyopia. The main problem with existing multifocal contact lenses on the market today is the general dissatisfaction of the wearer with overall vision acuity. As the demand for multifocal contact lenses steadily increases, the second degree students have chosen to study and develop a lens individually fitted to the parameters and requirements of the patient. In the framework of cooperation between the two bodies, Soflex will be providing the College with all the aids and accessories required for workshops and training for fitting contact lenses. Amongst other things, the students will be carrying out tests and advanced experiments in the most sophisticated laboratory for electro physiology in the country that has recently been built by the college.
In the words of Professor Jacob Azoulay, head of the Optometry Dept at Hadassah Jerusalem: “I have no doubt that the close ties that have been woven here between industry and academia will bear mutual fruit in the development of new and revolutionary ideas in this field.”
In the words of Shimon Behar, Soflex CEO: " The relationship of cooperation between Soflex and Hadassah college that started a few years ago, has recently strengthened. We are sure that second degree students of optometria are well experienced and will contribute in finding the best optic solutions for people.
